What is PCI Compliance?

PCI compliant means consistently adhering to a set of guidelines set forth by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) to help ensure the security of credit card transactions in the payments industry.

The PCI SSC mission is to enhance global payment account data security by developing standards and supporting services that drive education, awareness, and effective implementation by stakeholders.

PCI DSS guidelines include 12 requirements for merchants and payment processors, grouped into six areas. They are:
